Cubans are not the only ones complaining about the halal products sold by the Cuban Food and Health Company, which advertises its products on its website and on the company’s social media accounts.
“We want to stress that we offer halal meats as part of our products and our customers are welcome to choose whatever meats they want to eat,” the company told The Jerusalem Times.
The company also promises to supply kosher meat to people in need.
But on the social media channels, many Cubans expressed disappointment.
“How can the Cuban government not recognize the importance of kosher food and make halal meat available to the Cuban people?
How can they allow a company to make money by selling products that don’t meet their requirements?,” one person wrote on Facebook.
Another wrote, “Hate to say this, but I am a believer in halal and I know this is a good thing.
But I am disappointed that a company can make money from selling products for which the Cuban authorities cannot provide.”
But in a statement, the company said that it was not selling halal or kosher meat and that it had made a mistake in its marketing materials.
“The food of our company has been completely altered from the description given to us by the manufacturer and the information given in the brochure was inaccurate,” the statement said.
The spokesperson said that the company would work to correct the errors.
“Our commitment to halal means that we are committed to using the highest quality and healthiest meat from animals raised humanely, in accordance with the most stringent halal practices,” the spokesperson said.
