A new Food Stamp Works site, Food Wars, has opened in Florida to help people get the money they need.
The site, which is free to sign up for, is meant to be a tool for people who have lost jobs or are in dire need of cash to help pay for the bills.
Food Wars will be run by the Food Bank of the Heartland, a food pantry based in Orlando that provides cash assistance for those in need.
Food Bank of America of Florida president and CEO Lisa Cisneros said the Food Works site helps people find resources to get their food stamps and make a positive impact in their community.
Cisneros is part of a national movement of food pantries to make a difference by making it easier for people to get cash for food, she said.
Citing a recent study, Food Banks USA reported that food banks are seeing more and more people come to them for assistance.
The website will be updated as more people sign up.
Food Wars is a collaboration between the Food Banks of the Southwest and the Food Outreach Network, a national non-profit that connects families who are struggling with food insecurity with assistance.
For the Food Wars site, people can click on the link to go to a new section of the site, where they can see a list of food banks and other programs.
The list is updated every day.
The Food Works page also includes links to food panty and job search resources, which are not available on Food Wars.
Food Works is an initiative of the Food Pantry Alliance, which provides food to those who are hungry.
