What is gluten?

Gluten is the protein found in wheat and barley that makes bread, cereals, pasta, rice and many other foods, but it is also present in dairy products, eggs, and meat.

The gluten in wheat is found in the grain’s outer shell called the germ, while the gluten in barley is found within the inner shell of the grain. 

The best foods are gluten free but not all foods are good for you if you eat them. 

Foods containing gluten can be difficult to digest if you are sensitive to it, so be sure to read labels to find out what foods are safe for you and the food you are eating.

To be gluten free you should be eating foods made with wheat, barley, rye or oats. 

Most foods that have gluten in them are gluten-free. 

There are some foods that can be gluten-containing, and the amount of gluten found in those foods is not the same as what you find in wheat. 

If you are worried about the amount or type of gluten in a food, ask the company that makes the food or manufacturer if it can be made gluten- free. 

Some foods may contain wheat gluten and/or barley gluten, but they do not contain gluten. 

These foods can also contain milk protein, which is not considered gluten-safe. 

How can I tell if I am gluten free or not? 

There is no test to check if you or anyone else is gluten-negative. 

You can find out if you can eat gluten by asking the company who makes the product. 

For example, if a company makes a product that contains wheat gluten but is not labeled gluten-Free, that does not mean you can.

You should not eat that product, and you should check the label to make sure you are not eating gluten.

How can you tell if someone is gluten intolerant? 

Some people may experience problems eating gluten if they have celcer disease. 

Gluten sensitivity is not a problem. 

In some cases, it can cause discomfort, such as in those with Crohn’s disease or celiac. 

It is not known how often gluten sensitivity is a problem for celiac people. 

However, people with celiac or celotropic diseases may experience gluten sensitivity, and some of them may also have severe celiac symptoms.

Do gluten free foods contain sugar? 

Yes. 

Many gluten free recipes have added sugar. 

A gluten free recipe can contain dairy, honey, eggs or any other added sugar ingredients. 

Even if you do not eat the ingredients in the recipe, they may have added sugars, as well. 

Be sure to check labels to make certain that the ingredients you eat are not added sugars.

Mealy foods: Chicken, beef, turkey, pork, lamb, beef liver, chicken breasts, pork belly, pork loin, beef brisket, chicken liver, turkey legs, pork roast, duck breast, turkey liver, duck skin, duck breasts, duck legs, duck loin or duck breast. 

Milk products: Milk, almond milk, almond paste, almond meal, coconut milk, milk, rice, and soy. 

Dairy products: Cheese, yogurt, cream, yogurt spread, skim milk, low-fat milk, butter, and cream of tartar. 

Meat products: Steaks, lamb chops, bacon, ham, and sausages. 

Frozen food: Frozen food items, such a chocolate, banana, or blueberry. 

Vegan foods: Vegan food items such as tofu, almond butter, almond flour, and baking powder. 

Potatoes, lentils, beans, peas, potatoes, and rice. 

Oils: Almond oil, olive oil, canola oil, coconut oil, and sunflower oil. 

Fish: Cod, salmon, king mackere, king tuna, and king macaroni.
